Champion of Democracy

Mills' Central Region Tour I

Society has never remained static and will never remain so, and that is the story of the Central Region, as far as the electoral configuration for this year’s election is concerned.

Spending the whole of last week in his home region, Professor Mills has succeeded, via his 'Better Ghana' agenda, in winning the hearts and minds of his people.

Without playing the tribal card, but speaking mainly to the issues of, Job Creation, Building a Strong Economy, Investing In People, and being in-charge of an Open, Transparent, Honest and Humble government, the NDC Leader rolled out his very comprehensive plan for the region.

Professor Mills was in the Upper Denkyira East, Upper Denkyira West, Heman Lower Denkyira and Twifo Ati Mokwa constituencies.

Be it in, Denkyira Asikumah, Dunkwa-on-Offin, Kyekyewere, Diaso, Ntom, Dominase, Ayamfuri, Bukuruso, Hemang, Wawase, Jukwa Krobo, Mampong Nuamakrom, Twifo Praso, Anyinase, etc, there is an overwhelming commitment for change.

Professor Mills admonished the people against selling their votes.

“Please do not sell your votes to politicians.  When you allow politicians to buy your votes, they will win power and neglect you because they know that come another election period, your vote will be for sale” the learned Professor told the people.

“If even Atta Mills comes with money and no message, don’t vote for him. As human beings, we are priceless, and anybody who sells his/her vote, is selling his/her dignity as a human being” the NDC Leader said.

In the markets, at the lorry parks, in the streets, at the schools, in the palaces, the clamour for a change that will bring about a Better Ghana could not be missed.

Indeed, the desire for a Better Ghana in the Central Region is so solid that it can be felt and seen.

Wherever Professor Mills visited, there was a recall of how during his tenure as Vice President, the Denkyira and Twifo areas got their fair share of development projects.

Be it, schools, roads, water, health facilities, and electricity, there was more than ample testimony that it was during the period of the NDC that such infrastructure and social services reached those areas.

Indeed, in the 7+ years that the Denkyira and Twifo areas have been solidly behind the NPP, not an iota of development has reached the area and that is the main reason why the NPP is no longer enjoying the support of the people of those areas.

What is irking the people the most, is the unacceptable level to which the arrogance and self-conceitedness of the NPP has reached.

Taking it for granted that the Denkyira and Twifo areas are strongholds of the NPP, propagandists of the ruling party have been insulting the people by saying that even if a dog is draped in NPP colours and put up as a parliamentary candidate, the dog will win.

And it is this annoying posturing of the NPP, after reneging on all its promises, which has annoyed the people of the Central Region so much so that, the people of the region have pledged their unalloyed support to Professor Atta Mills and there is no denying the fact that the region will vote massively for Professor Mills for him to build a Better Ghana.

“If we were fools in the past, we are no more fools.  We are going to vote massively for one of our own; Atta Mills and prove to the NPP that we the people of the Central Region supported them because we believed in their agenda.  But now that it is clear that the NPP does not have any agenda for us, we are going back to the NDC” a traditional leader said.

Professor Atta Mills is expected back in the Central Region tomorrow to begin phase 2 of his tour which will see him in the Gomoa and Ejumako areas.
