.......while Akufo Addo’s divisive tactics sinks the NPP.
"Reform Boys", PV Obeng & others come out.....
While the vindictive and destructive character of Akuffo-Addo hasliterally hounded "Allan Cash" out of the NPP, and with the party imploding by the second ala the brutal fights that are characterizing the party’s primaries, the NDC is more than focused and pursuing its focused agenda of giving back to Ghana, her lost pride and dignity as well as giving back hope to a suffering people.
On Friday, April 18, 2008, while the Hon John Mahama was in Kumasi presenting the NDC’s policy position on energy, the Leader of the party, Professor John Evans Atta Mills, was setting the agenda for the party’s takeover of the reins of government come January next year.
From academia, business, industry, and from all the corners of this country, some big brains met in Accra to hem in the issues as far as the NDC’s Social Democracy ideology is concerned.
Setting the tone for the seminar, Professor Mills told the gathering that he is not interested in any hazy ideas that cannot be implement and that the seminar must focus on implementable policies that would make it possible for the ordinary Ghanaian to keep body and soul together.
“The new NDC government must have only one thing on its mind; to better the lot of the long suffering Ghanaians and restore hope in them so let us come out with very pragmatic policies that would do nothing but ensure the welfare of the citizenry” the NDC Leader said.
Professor Atta Mills asked the gathering to bring to bare their collective experience and expertise on the NDC’s social democracy agenda so that after voting for the party, Ghanaians would not have cause to regret having given the NDC the mandate to govern.
“No one person is the repository of knowledge so let us together fashion out policies that would make us reach out to as many people as possible” the NDC Leader said.
“Our success in government must be measured by the amount of welfare policies we would implement and not by the amount of money that we would steal” the NDC Leader added
The seminar was chaired by no less a personality than Paul Victor Obeng, one time Presidential Advisor on Governmental Affairs and defacto Prime Minister during the PNDC and early NDC days.
P.V, as he is affectionally called, used his vast experience and depth of knowledge in matters of governance to steer the seminar successfully.
For sure, P.V’s absence from frontline politics has done nothing to blunt his very sharp line of thinking as his quick-thinking prowess was abundantly on display.
A significant breath of fresh air at the seminar, was the return of the Goosie Tanoh’s "Reform Boys" to the fold of the NDC.
The likes of, Kyeretwe Opoku, Sam Garbah, Larry Adjetey, Mije Barnor, were present.
Also present were NDC old guards such as Yaw Akrasi Sarpong, Dr. Christine Amoako Nuamah, George Quainoo Mettle, D.S. Boateng, and a host of others.
Signals picked indicate that the “Reform Boys” and the old guards are back into the fold of the NDC because people like Obed Asamoah have left the fold of the party.
“We are in because Obed is out. And of course, we are back because of Professor Mills. We have a lot of respect for the professor and believe that he means well for this country and so we are all putting our shoulders to the wheel to kick out these thieves, looters and nation wreckers” said one of the "Reform Boys".
It is believed that Dr. Kwesi Botchwey, would also be making an official return to the fold of the NDC.
The NDC is certainly united for victory.
