- Cuts Vice Presidential Teeth @ Energy Seminar In Kumasi.....
Hon John Dramani Mahama, NDC’s Vice Presidential Candidate for this year’s election, has stated that he is more that ready for the task ahead. The Bole Bamboi MP, who last week Wednesday, had his political status put on a higher pedestal when NDC Leader and Presidential Candidate, Professor John Evans Atta Mills, named him as his choice for the vice presidential slot, is hitting the road running.
Though the height he has reached is something new, Hon John Mahama says that his collective experience as a Cabinet Minister in the NDC government, his near 12 years as a Member of Parliament, as well as other experiences gathered in his working life, are enough to set him on the right pedestal to execute his mandate to perfection. “I am ready for the job and I don’t intend to let Professor Mills, the NDC, and the people of Ghana down in any way” the NDC’s vice presidential candidate said.
In an acceptance letter dated April 14, 2008, addressed to Professor Atta Mills, Hon John Mahama thanked the learned professor for the honour done him and promised to make good the trust and confidence reposed in him.
The letter reads thus:
“You have done me the singular honour in nominating me to be your running mate for the forthcoming Presidential elections in which you are the Presidential Candidate of our great party, the National Democratic Congress …”
“It is with great humility that I accept this nomination. I hope and pray I can effectively complement your enormous strengths in the tasks, firstly of working to achieve victory in the elections, and, then, of providing for our dear country, a leadership of integrity, inspiration, industry and dedication that will draw out the best in all our citizens and make this a really great nation”.
“I have known and admired your capabilities since, as a young student at the University of Ghana, I observed not only your academic distinction at the Faculty of Law and the School of Administration but also your excellence in sports as well as your overall leadership qualities”.
“Later when, during your tenure as Vice President under President Rawlings, I was privileged to serve as Cabinet Minister, I saw at close quarters your effectiveness as a leader as well as your industry and brilliance in finding imaginative solutions especially in times of crisis. I also came to recognize your God-fearing character as your solid foundation”
“I deem it an incredible privilege now to join you on the ticket of the NDC. I will do everything that is in my power to help make this a winning team and I trust that, by the Grace of God, this nation will come to see the huge difference that President Mills will make to its destiny”.
“Thank You very much for the honour you have done me and God bless”.
The Hon John Mahama, as Vice Presidential Candidate of the NDC, is cutting his teeth in that position, tomorrow, when he presents the NDC’s Energy Policy at a seminar being organized by the Engineering Faculty of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST). Hon John Mahama is being accompanied to the seminar by a high powered Energy Advisory Team made up of the venerable Tsatsu Tsikata, Dr. Oteng Agyei, Energy Expert, Dr. Kwabena Donkor, Energy Expert, and Hon Moses Asaga, MP for Nabdam and Minority Spokesperson on Energy. It is expected that the delivery of Hon John Mahama on behalf of the NDC, will leave no doubt in the minds of the organizers, that the NDC is more than poised to move the country’s energy matters from its current precarious position to a more sustainable one.
