Assin Fosu welcomes Atta Mills

Assin Fosu went haywire as the NDC flagbearer Prof. John Evans Atta Mills stormed the Assin North constituency and with the Member of Parliament for the area Hon. Kennedy Agyapong’s arrogance and insults heaped on the chiefs and people of Effutuakwa, hundreds of youth who are up against him joined the Learned Professor in his house to house campaign. Kennedy Agyepong’s misdemeanor and disrespect to the people of his constituency has brought thousands of the youth of Fosu and NPP supporters knocking at the doors of the NDC and this was amply manifested when news went round that Atta Mills was within the vicinity of Fosu township. Hundreds of people lined up on the main Kumasi-Fosu highway to catch a glimpse of the NDC flagbearer who was interacting with the chiefs and people of Mempeasem a surburb of Assin Fosu.

The people of Mempeasem could not hold their breath as they were so excited to see the NDC flagbearer that they were punctuating his speeches with NDC songs. He described himself as the new sensation in Ghana politics adding that God has declared him as the emerging leader of the country. He noted that what had taken place at Fosu had never happened before in his quest to win elections and thanked the people for coming out in their numbers to encourage him and to give their moral and spiritual support.

The Mempeasem chief Nana Haruna Salifu I in response said the huge crowd gathered at the forecourt of his palace was no fluke. He disclosed that the rousing welcome given to him signifies their acceptance of his bid to win the presidency and assured him of their votes come 2008. He disclosed that no political figure has ever visited them and for the learned Law Professor to have crossed the marshy land to pay them a courtesy call on them shows how humble he is and therefore assured the flagbearer that Ghanaians will vote massively for him. From Mempeasem the youth of Fosu who are apparently fed up with the deceit of the current NPP government came to lead Prof. Mills to the Fosu township directing him through the market to the main highway thereby creating a traffic jam.

A number of people who shook hands with the Professor were baffled at the way and manner he was able to walk for more that two hours with some of them commenting that ‘ is this the man the papers are saying is sick this is very bad of the NPP ‘. Even the father of the Member of Parliament for Assin North constituency, Hon. Kennedy Agyepong was heard commenting that he would advise his son to inform his party not associate sickness with the Professor because it would backfire and rather win more votes for him. The cheers and songs overwhelmed Prof. Mills so much that he described the day as a memorable day in his life as a politician noting he is going to be the next president of the country.

He promised to give the Fosu township a face lift to befit it as one of the new emerging
cities in the country.
